Eisenhower Counselors Recognized for Work by State Association
The New Berlin Eisenhower counselor team, comprised of Jesse Annoye, Emily Mees and Kathy Lohse, has earned the 2018 Program of Promise Award from the Wisconsin School Counselor Association (WSCA) as a result of a Wisconsin School Counselor Accountability Report (WSCPAR) they submitted to the association for review earlier this year.

Devin McKinnon, a technology education teacher at New Berlin Eisenhower, received the highest honor given to Project Lead the Way teachers – PLTW Outstanding Teacher – at the PLTW national conference.
“We are proud of Ms. McKinnon for earning this incredible honor, but also for being an incredible teacher who not only gets the best out of her students, but also sets them up for future success,” Superintendent Joe Garza said. “The work she does with the PLTW Gateway students opens their eyes to new possibilities and often boosts their interest in our PLTW engineering, biomedical and

SDNB Administration, School Board Balances 2018-19 Budget; Property Owners Will See Decrease in School Taxes
On Oct. 22, the School District of New Berlin’s Board of Education approved the final budget for the 2018-19 school year that includes a 1.8 percent decrease in the tax levy.
This year’s $50,791,524 tax levy is $953,925 less than the 2017-18 levy. As a result, a homeowner with a home valued at $250,000 within the district’s boundaries will see a decrease in the school district’s portion of their tax bill by approximately $155.
The 2018-19 budget marks the fifth consecutive year the property tax rate per $1,000 of value will decrease. This year’s rate of $10.21 per $1,000 is the lowest it has been since the 2009-10 budget, when it was $9.88.

SDNB Sees Uptick in Year-Over-Year Graduating Class ACT Scores
The School District of New Berlin’s composite ACT scores for 2018 graduating students have increased slightly when compared to the last couple of years.
The district’s overall composite score for the 415 students who took the test – the most ever in any single graduating class - is 23.9, up from 23.7 set by the 2017 graduating class and 23.6 turned in by the 2016 class. New Berlin’s composite score remains well above the state average of 20.5.

New Berlin West's homecoming this month was a little more special than usual.
Dozens of alumni from the Class of 1968 returned to their old stomping ground to celebrate their 50th anniversary. After West's current athletics and activities director Jordan Napoli gave the group a tour of the school - a lot had changed over five decades! - they tailgated and stayed for the football game against Greendale.
The group held its reunion at New Berlin Hills Golf Course, and we were so happy to welcome them back!
SDNB Earns $50,000 Technical Education Equipment Grant Award from Department of Workforce Development
The School District of New Berlin has been awarded a $50,000 Wisconsin Fast Forward Advanced Manufacturing Technical Education Equipment Grant from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
The funds, along with matching funds from district partners, will be used for equipment for the district’s “How Machine’s Work” course, including tabletop mechatronics units, vacuum thermoformers and parts, software, stock materials and more.

The School District of New Berlin will receive $120,000 from the Wisconsin Department of Justice School Safety Grant program, the district learned this week. The amount is the maximum the district could have received through the grant.
The SDNB will use the grant funds to better secure the main entrances at all six of its schools. Work is expected to begin on the buildings’ entrances immediately.
