Ike, West Among Top 20 Wisconsin High Schools in U.S. News and World Report's 2022 Rankings

The School District of New Berlin’s two high schools are considered among the state’s and nation’s best, according to the U.S. News and World Report’s 2022 rankings.

After ranking third a year ago, New Berlin Eisenhower ranked fifth for the third time in four years while West climbed from 25th in 2020 to 20th this year (West’s 2021 ranking was invalid as a result of a clerical error made by the publication) out of 452 ranked Wisconsin high schools. With rankings of 350th and 857th, both Eisenhower and West finished in the top 4.8 percent of the nearly 17,850 nationally ranked
schools, according to the publication.

Four SDNB Educators Earn Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Awards

New Berlin, Wis. - Four School District of New Berlin educators have been chosen as Herb Kohl Educational Foundation award winners, giving the SDNB at least four Kohl award recipients in each of the last five years.

Pat Detmer, a special education teacher at New Berlin West; Maggie Lannoye, an occupational therapist; Jacki Thering, an elementary orchestra teacher; and Lisa Vega, the district’s 18-21-year-old Pathways
Program special education teacher, have been awarded Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellowship Awards.

SDNB Continues to 'Significantly Exceed' Expectations on State-Issued Accountability Report Card

All School District of New Berlin schools continue to “significantly exceed” or “exceed” expectations according to 2020-21 state-issued District and School Report Cards released this week. The District also “significantly exceeds” expectations, one of just 39 of 421 districts in Wisconsin to reach that level, and one of only 19 K-12 districts to do so.

SDNB earns $150,000 Mental Health Grant from Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction

The School District of New Berlin will receive the maximum $75,000 in each of the next two years through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s Student Services/Prevention and Wellness statewide
$10.9 million grant distribution. The program is designed to support student mental health and alcohol and other drug abuse programs in schools.

SDNB, Drexel Building Supply Announce $150,000, 10-Year Fieldhouse Naming Rights Sponsorship

The School District of New Berlin is excited to announce a 10-year, $150,000 agreement with Drexel Building Supply that gives the family-owned Wisconsin company exclusive naming rights to the fieldhouse at New Berlin West Middle/High School.

As part of the agreement, Drexel will have signage on the exterior of the fieldhouse, in the fieldhouse lobby and directly inside the venue, which is tentatively planned to be named the Drexel Fieldhouse - Home of the Vikings.

SDNB Celebrates Its AP Capstone Diploma Recipients

More than 2,000 schools participated in the AP Capstone Diploma program, a project-based learning experiences valued by colleges and universities across theU.S. and around the world.

Five School District of New Berlin 2021 graduates - four at West and one at Eisenhower - earned the AP Capstone Diploma and one West student earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate during the
2020-21 school year. The AP Capstone Diploma program helps students to develop critical thinking, research, collaboration, and presentation skills that are critical to academic success. New Berlin’s Maya Audi, Faith Derengowski, Brianna Getzloff, Chloe Phelps and Hannah Sundarajan were awarded the AP Capstone Diploma. West’s Rebekah Bonin was awarded the AP Seminar and Research Certificate.
