Jeff Lewiston Court Recognition Ceremony to Take Place January 17
On Friday, January 17, New Berlin West will officially name the fieldhouse court after former longtime basketball coach, Jeff Lewiston. During his 20-year tenure, Lewiston led the Vikings to four conference championships, five regional titles and three sectional final appearances, the highlight being the Vikings' undefeated (26-0) 2000 state championship season.

The 2019-20 school year marks the 50th anniversary of New Berlin Eisenhower. To celebrate Eisenhower’s storied history, the School District of New Berlin has created the New Berlin Eisenhower Hall of Fame.

New Berlin Eisenhower is one of America’s top STEM – science, technology, engineering and mathematics – high schools, according to an all-new Newsweek ranking published earlier this month.
Eisenhower ranked 302nd nationally, one of only five Wisconsin high schools to crack the list. Eisenhower’s score is 92.18 out of 100.
SDNB Increases Overall Score, Continues to 'Significantly Exceed' Expectations on State-Issue Accountability Report Card
All School District of New Berlin schools continue to “significantly exceed” or “exceed” expectations according to 2018-19 state-issued District and School Report Cards released today. The District
also “significantly exceeds” expectations, one of only 40 of 421 districts in Wisconsin to reach that level.
Among this year’s highlights:
- The district’s overall score climbed for the second straight year, from 84.7 in 2016-17 to 85.7 in 2017-18 to 86.9 in 2018-19;
- West, with its 83.5, “significantly exceeds expectations” for the first time since the report cards were issued in 2014. In all previous years, West “exceeded expectations”;
- Eisenhower’s score climbed from 86.1 a year ago to a district-best 89.0;
- Both secondary schools, as well as Elmwood (87.4) and Ronald Reagan (84.2) elementary schools, significantly exceed expectations; Poplar Creek (82.4) and Orchard Lane (81.3) “exceed expectations”.
SDNB’s Mental Health Advisory Committee Working to Identify, Alleviate Mental Health Barriers in Schools
At a time when concerns and awareness about mental health in schools and society are more prevalent than ever, the School District of New Berlin is proud to have available the joint resources
provided by the cooperative partners involved with the SDNB’s Mental Health Advisory Committee.
This unique committee is comprised of school staff and officials, mental health professionals and parents with a collaborative focus on developing proactive strategies to identify potential mental health-related barriers to academic success in a safe environment. This committee works to provide learning to students, staff and parents around social emotional learning (SEL) and mental health issues.

New Berlin Teacher Selected for World War I Program
Ms. Jaclyn Jecha, a teacher at New Berlin West Middle and High School in New Berlin, Wisconsin, is one of only 114 teachers selected for a National History Day® program titled Legacies of World War I. The program is a partnership between the U.S. World War I Centennial Commission and National History Day. Jecha will participate in webinars and discussions with educators from around the world to learn
about World War I and its lasting impact. As one of the selected teachers, Jecha receives free tuition, graduate credits, and materials for the online program.

SDNB, Education Foundation Teaming to a Build Fab Lab at West
New Berlin West Middle / High School students have a cool, new space to invent, collaborate and be creative this school year.
Thanks to a commitment from the Education Foundation of New Berlin (EFNB), West has a new fab lab, a place where students can be innovative and turn an idea into a reality by using a variety of technical tools and materials through digital fabrication.
The lab will be available to students in all classes, including technology, arts, business, STEM and more. Moving forward, the vision is to open the fab lab to members of the entire New Berlin community to utilize the technology and help mentor or hold their own events.

Eight of the district’s Construction III students, four from both Eisenhower and West, will help build this home, working alongside the Tim O’Brien construction team and contracted skilled workers.
