New Berlin students, families, friends, alumni & supporters,
The School District of New Berlin is excited to announce the naming of the Eisenhower Gymnasium in honor of longtime teacher and coach, David Scheidegger. The official naming ceremony will take place during halftime of the boys basketball game versus New Berlin West on February 16th. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:15pm.
David Scheidegger retired from teaching at the end of the 2015-16 school year, after 36 years as a physical education teacher in the School District of New Berlin. In 1989, Coach Scheidegger was hired as head coach of the boys basketball program at New Berlin Eisenhower. In 27 seasons with Scheidegger as head coach, the Lions’ overall record was an astonishing 430-187. Schedegger's teams won 10 conference championships, five regional championships, the 2008 sectional championship, and the 2008 WIAA Division 2 state championship. In addition to teaching and coaching boys basketball, Coach Scheidegger was the head coach for boys golf and served as an assistant coach for football and baseball.
The School District of New Berlin believes it is fitting for Eisenhower’s gymnasium to be named in honor of an individual who spent his entire career working in this facility to create an incredibly positive experience for each of his students and student-athletes. It is an honor to officially name our facility the David Scheidegger Gymnasium.
We hope to see you on Friday, February 16th at New Berlin Eisenhower as we pay tribute to Coach Scheidegger. Go Ike!
